Royal Monastery of Saint Mary of Rueda

GUIDED TOURS

The royal monastery of Saint Mary of rueda (near Sástago) is one of the top shows of Cister in Aragón,, along with Veruela, Piedra and Casbas.

Aragón’s government, by means of Turismo de Aragón and the Aragón’s Agency of Tourism has been working to valorize and open this site, after years being shut down. Guided tours, managed from ‘Turismo de Aragón’, will let you enjoy again this premise as an enhancer element for this territory, a gateway to discovering Aragón history and artistic Heritage.

It is a unique building to preserving spaces, which allows to know truthfully monastic life, organization and monastery’s functioning.

In this guided tour visitors are proposed a walk to enjoy the chapitels, the well or the cistern to collect rain water. The chapter hall, the over-cloister or the Mudéjar tower as a way to move into monastic life and its bedrooms, dungeons, writing hall, refectorium and the barn.

OPENING DAYS 2019:

– From Fri. To Sun.
– Zaragoza city holidays, 29th Jan and 5th March.
– Mo-Sun in July and Aug.

GUIDED TOURS TIMES:

– AM: 11:00 h. / NOON
– PM: 13:00/16:00/ 17:00 h.

PRICES:

5 € (CHILDREN UNDER 6, FREE).

Limited access up to 50 visitors.

Not booked tickets can be sold directly until completion.

Gates are opened for ticket sale 10 min before the visit starts.

The building is only accessible by guided tour.
